Las Vegas Jobs

While the economy has slowed all over the United States, I have found two places that are hiring here in Las Vegas and you can apply on their websites.

                                                         www.rei.com

According to their website they have job openings at their Henderson store and are also hiring for the brand new Summerlin store.  At their website go to the button to see the jobs link.

There is a brand new Casino opening in North Las Vegas called Aliante Station there are several stations through out the Las Vegas Valley.  On their website go to the bottom and see careers.

Summerlin by Villages

Summerlin is built in villages.  Neighborhoods are then built into the villages.  Each village and neighborhood is unique and has its own amenities.  To see another look at Summerlin please visit a blog which is devoted to Summerlin. This  blog has a lot of information and more is added every day.  http://realsummerlin.com

The Star Trek Experience Is Shuttng Down

After 11 years the Hilton has announce the end of the Star Trek Experience.  It was announced last week officially but there has been rumors  for quite  sometime.
I am a Star Trek Fan.  I have lived here 9 years and still have not made it down to the experience.  Now I will have until  Sept. 1  to do it or never see it.  How sad.  I was very excited because I will be at a convention on Sept 19.  I am staying at the Hilton even though I live here, as there are a bunch of my fellow agents coming in for the convention.  Well I thought I would finally have the time to see it and it will be gone.
The official Star Trek Convention is Aug. 6-10th so this will be the final year.
So if you are a big Trekkie now would be the time to come to Las Vegas.

Master Planned Community Country in the Park

The master planned community of Mountains Edge is hosting its second annual country in the park event.  This years event will take place on May3rd, 2008 11:00AM-5:00PM.  The festivities will take place in Exploration Park.  It is a free and open event.
There will be live performances from local country bands through the day also KWNR 95.5 will be broadcasting live through out the day. There will be line dancing lessons, mechanical bull riding, Participants can also enjoy the volley ball courts, horse shoe pits, and picnic area.  There also a trail that leads up to Exploration Peak, the city's first mountain park.
There is a very interesting aspect of Exploration park that being a Western themed park with building facades of the old west are really slides, climbing structures.  Dirt roads lead to the play area's which also feature a covered wagon play structure, and a replica water tower splash park which incorporates jet sprays.  There will be an array of booths offering food.

Sounds like a fun family outing.  Mountains Edge is in the Southwest part of the valley.  You can learn more about this fun event by going to the Mountains Edge website

First Green Houses in the Las Vegas Valley

Pulte homes just opened the first green houses in the Las vegas Valley.  The homes are located in the northwest.  The community called Timber Creek was awarded the certification from the Southern Nevada Green Building Partnership.  In order to qualify for this certification very stringent codes have to be followed.  This includes energy and water and indoor environmental quality, they must exceed government codes and industry standards.

This community is 78 houses, with a choice of 3 two story designs ranging from 2,559 sq. feet and 3,799 sq. feet.  The 2559 plan has 3 bedrooms 3 bedrooms and 21/2 baths.  The 3249 plan offers 5 bedrooms and 21/2 baths.  The 3799 plan offers 4 bedrooms and 21/2 baths.  All three plans have three car garages.  The homes even with their green status start in the low $300,000s.

Pulte has been a very good builder for many years in the Las Vegas Valley.  A few years ago they started a guarantee price on your energy bills.  It was a promise that your bills would never be over a certain price.  Now they are the first builders to have a green model and a neighborhood up and running.
